Common questions

What patients ask us most

How does financing work?+

At your free consultation, we run your application through CareCredit, Sunbit, and Cherry simultaneously to find the best rate. Most patients are approved in under 60 seconds. You then choose a payment plan and terms that fit your budget.

Do I need good credit?+

Sunbit uses a soft credit pull and approves most applicants, including those with limited or imperfect credit. CareCredit prefers good credit but offers promotional 0% APR plans. Cherry is the most flexible for buy-now-pay-later.

Will applying hurt my credit score?+

Sunbit uses a soft pull (no impact). CareCredit and Cherry use hard pulls only at the point you accept terms, applying does not commit you.

Can I combine financing with insurance?+

Yes, most patients do. We bill insurance first, then finance the remaining out-of-pocket through CareCredit/Sunbit/Cherry. We run your benefits at the consultation.

Is there a down payment?+

Usually not. CareCredit promotional plans typically have $0 down. Sunbit and Cherry both offer $0-down plans for qualifying patients.

How to think about financing a dental implant

The financing conversation is where transparent pricing actually pays off.

Why three lenders, not one

Dental implant financing is not a single market. CareCredit functions essentially as a healthcare-specific credit card with promotional zero-interest periods that work well for patients with established credit who can pay the balance within the deferred-interest window. Sunbit uses a soft credit pull and approves a much broader range of applicants, including patients with thin credit files, recent life-event credit dings, or self-employment income that traditional underwriting penalizes. Cherry is structured as a buy-now-pay-later product and is the most flexible for patients without significant credit history. Running all three simultaneously at the consultation almost always produces at least one approval, and frequently produces multiple competing offers that let the patient choose terms rather than accept the only one available.

Combining financing with insurance and HSA/FSA accounts

Most PPO dental plans cover a portion of implant treatment, typically the extraction, the imaging, and a percentage of the implant placement itself, with annual maximums that cap reimbursement around $1,500 to $2,500. Insurance is filed first, the remaining balance is financed, and the monthly payment is calibrated to the net out-of-pocket rather than the gross procedure fee. Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Account dollars can be applied to the down payment or the entire procedure for patients who have contributed funds, and the tax treatment effectively discounts the procedure by the patient's marginal tax rate. The financing review at consultation works through all three layers, insurance benefits, available HSA/FSA balance, and lender offers, before a final monthly payment is quoted.

Why our fixed pricing makes financing simpler than at most clinics

Financing at a clinic with variable, procedure-code-based billing is a moving target: the patient cannot commit to a monthly payment until the final invoice is known, and the final invoice typically lands well above the consultation quote. Apex's fixed-fee model, $1,999 for a single-tooth implant, $12,500 per arch for All-on-4, $350 per wisdom tooth, means the financed amount at consultation is the same as the financed amount at the end of treatment. No mid-treatment re-quoting, no surprise charges that have to be folded into a second loan, no add-on fees that arrive after the financing decision has been made. The transparency on the front end is what makes the monthly-payment conversation actually useful rather than aspirational.
